Welcome to the CSL!

The CSL will start on November 2, 2007 at Illing Middle School
What is the Center for Service Learning?
The Town of Manchester received Community Development Block Grant funds to develop an after school program for Middle School students. The goal was to develop a program which provided opportunities for personal growth through empowerment. As a result, the Town's Recreation Department created the Center for Service Learning (CSL) The CSL connects meaningful community service with academic learning, personal growth, civic responsibility, and reflective experience.
Only a limited number of students will be selected for the Center for Service Learning program. Students will grow as individuals, gain respect for peers and increase civic participation. Through service experience students will gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their community and society. Students will develop as leaders who take initiatives, solve problems and work as a team. Students will actively participate in the process of understanding, integrating and applying knowledge from various subject areas as they work to improve their communities.
What is Service Learning?
